Censorship Studies
Fondazione Prada

An experimental digital platform created within Belligerent Eyes, exploring censorship, image production and automated visual restriction through interaction, real-time content flows and algorithmic mediation.
Overview
Presented during Belligerent Eyes at Fondazione Prada in Venice, Censorship Studies was conceived as an experimental media research facility within a broader investigation into contemporary image production. The project translated themes of censorship, invisibility and visual control into an interactive digital environment, extending the programme beyond the physical space of Ca’ Corner della Regina. Visitors could interact with the platform through a Telegram chat-bot, while a custom AI censoring algorithm imported and transformed content in real time. The result was a continuous loop of hyper-medial elements, where participation, automation and restriction became part of the same visual system. Rather than treating the website as documentation, the digital layer functioned as an active component of the research: a live interface designed to expose how images can be filtered, altered and recontextualised through technological processes.
